LEAVING EACH OTHER TONGUING AND TOOTHLESS2018
Self aware figures emerge from the gulf between our devices in a pullulation of a new, ethereal age of communication. Through a bittersweet lens of romance and cynicism, the growing symbols in the video embody a language of naive optimism and hope. When symbols develop their own lives, they retain the humanity of nostalgia, encased in a hard shell of technological advancements over which they have no control. The voice synthesis renders a grappling for symbiosis between intelligible and unintelligible, organic and artificial. It slips and stammers and falters in an attempt to articulate a future of True Communication, a future in which language is liberated from the binary linguistic struggles of Late Capitalism and the Information Age through the posing of a new linguistic form in which that which has become familiar to online communicators can become a universal communication tool.
